The prevalence of developmental issues among university students is on the rise. To promote students’ holistic development, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has developed a 3-credit leadership course titled “Tomorrow’s Leaders.” This course aims to cultivate students’ positive youth development (PYD) attributes, focusing on intrapersonal and interpersonal qualities essential for effective leadership, thereby enhancing their developmental assets. Its teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student has the potential to be a leader. The curriculum is designed to integrate academic knowledge with personal growth, fostering intense interactions between teachers and students, as well as among students themselves. It encourages experiential, collaborative, and reflective learning. Engagement methods include group discussions, reflective activities, sharing exercises, and post-lecture evaluations. The impact of the course has been rigorously evaluated through objective outcome evaluation, subjective outcome evaluation, process evaluation, and qualitative evaluation. Findings consistently show improvements in students’ PYD attributes, their positive views on the course and instructors, and the perceived benefits they gained from the course. In addition to positive feedback from students, this subject has also received external recognition. The chapter further discusses teacher training and future direction.
