Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently spreading worldwide, the development of online education has currently accelerated- this brings both opportunities and challenges. This article explores the integration of AI for the construction of a comprehensive web-based educational support system that provides customized support to both teachers and students. Built on sophisticated deep learning techniques, the system has been developed to assess students’ level of understanding and predict their learning outcomes. In addition, the system has the built-in functionality to group students by their ability levels and explain the material differently depending on the students’ comprehension levels over the class as a whole. These features will assist educators in more accurately interpreting the needs of their students, and thus designing more helpful educational programs and giving more appropriate guidance. The system also provides students with personalized education recommendations that are catered to their individual strengths and areas needing improvement. Initial investigations with universities are promising in terms of improving student involvement and academic performance, particularly given the challenges of COVID-19. As progress is made, this study aims to further the use of AI in online education, promoting continuous innovation in this field.
