Interactive and More Practical Approaches to Contact Sessions

Apples have been falling for many centuries. However, why is it that in the summer of 1666, an apple changed the future of science (University of York > About us > Newton’s Apple Tree (2014) [1])? A curious mind observed the apple falling from a tree and was hit upon by his system of gravitation. Science is not about learning the formulas of Newton but developing the curiosity to observe the nature around us and ask the right questions. The eminent institutes should play the role of catalysts that change the fate of students. They should provide the right resources to develop the attitude of being inquisitive about forces acting in nature and motivate the students to engage in active discussion and ask the right questions. The professors play an important role here—as the lighthouse to direct students towards the coast of knowledge; by answering their doubts on time and assisting them in their journey to discover the science of data. The students should be future-ready and aware of the industry's demands. The paper presents a detailed analysis of the pedagogy as part of the WILP courses and highlights the key challenges followed by practical recommendations. The paper also touches upon the way students should be evaluated and moulded as a problem solver and a leader. The purpose is to enlighten the reader to understand how the existing pedagogy can be improved upon so that BITS is true to its motto—gyānaṁ paramaṁ balam (Knowledge is supreme power).
