This study offers a comprehensive evaluation of experiential learning methodologies in online executive MBA programs, highlighting the crucial role of faculty competence and diverse learning approaches in enhancing educational outcomes. Anchored in the theoretical foundation of Kolb’s experiential learning theory, our research addresses the gap in understanding the effectiveness of various experiential learning techniques—namely case studies, simulations, project-based learning, and interactive workshops—in a virtual learning environment. Employing a quantitative research methodology, we conducted a survey with 372 participants, including students and faculty from leading online executive MBA programs. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, structural equation modeling (SEM), mediation analysis, and ANOVA to assess the impact of different learning methods on student engagement, practical skill development, and overall learning outcomes. The results indicate that simulations and interactive workshops are the most effective in enhancing engagement and practical skills, significantly influencing learning outcomes. Faculty competence emerged as a pivotal factor, positively affecting the efficacy of experiential learning methods. Mediation analysis revealed that student engagement and practical skill development are critical mediators in the relationship between experiential learning methodologies and learning outcomes. ANOVA results further substantiated the differential impact of each experiential learning technique. This study makes significant contributions to the field of online executive education by providing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of various experiential learning methods. It underscores the importance of faculty competence in implementing these methods and highlights the need for a balanced approach that integrates various techniques to cater to diverse learning preferences. The findings offer valuable insights for curriculum designers and educators in optimizing experiential learning strategies in the rapidly evolving landscape of online education.
