Industry in the twenty-first century is transforming at a breakneck pace thanks to innovation fostered by the Internet, mobile, storage, blockchain and similar technologies. The major challenge for Industry 4.0 is to source a workforce capable of adapting to the dynamic scenarios. This challenge is a major impedance in adoption of Industry 4.0. Continually updating the skill set of the existing employees is a major part of the solution posed by the twenty-first century challenge. It is vital for academia to pragmatically address this challenge faced by the industry on two fronts. Firstly, academia should synchronize with ever emerging technologies and innovations and adopt the academic curricula commensurately. Secondly and more importantly the faculty must align with the innovation ecosystem to make the learning environment dynamic and flexible. In view of this, we discuss various existing practices in curriculum design as per the industry requirements and also the process to be considered for synchronizing curriculum design with dynamic changes.
