Three-Level Shunt Active Filter for Power Quality Improvement
摘要
This paper implements a control algorithm for a Shunt Active Filter (SAF) to achieve current balancing, reduced current harmonics and reactive power compensation. Accurate detection and calculation of harmonics, PF and unbalanced current play an important role in the compensation algorithm for precise and fast control. The proposed shunt active filter algorithm is based on a Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) + Proportional Resonant (PR) controller for harmonic compensation. Whereas for unbalanced compensation, a double Synchronous Reference Frame (DSRF) + Proportional Resonant (PR) controller is used. For reactive power compensation, active and reactive power is calculated from the grid voltage and current; subsequently, Iq reference is generated. The performance of control algorithm is validated both in simulation and hardware. For hardware validation, 3-phase 3-level NPC1 IGBT-based 75A power module is developed. The performance of SAF is benchmarked with IEEE 519–2022 standards.
