This manuscript focuses on the development of a solar photovoltaic based power generator integrated with a supercapacitor and battery storage system. Investing in renewable based power sources for data centers is one of the green computing practices which can optimize the power demand of the IT infrastructure. As solar energy is sporadic in nature incorporation of energy storage system is obligatory. In this paper, a solar PV based power generator is modeled and simulated to power a 500 W load. During the operating scenarios when there is reduced solar insolation, the PV output power is reduced but battery and the supercapacitor maintain a constant load power. Hence, it was found that a combination of battery and supercapacitor is a promising energy storage solution for solar PV systems. The proposed system model was validated by extensive simulation results.

摘要
