Sonia Faleiro describes herself as a “nonfiction writer in London.” In an interview given in 2012 to a local newspaper in San Francisco, The Noe Valley Voice, Faleiro shared that she was born in Goa and went on to study in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her work is primarily rooted in investigative and long-form journalism, and her articles regularly feature in The New York Times, Times Literary Supplement, The Intercept, and India Today. She has also worked with Vogue India and Tehelka. She has co-founded Deca, a space for collaboration for award-winning journalists to work collectively around global issues and critical commentary.
