Avni Doshi is an author and artist who resides in Dubai with her partner and children. She was born to Indian immigrant parents in New Jersey, United States. Before embarking on her career as a writer, she completed two art degrees: a BA degree in Art History from Barnard College in New York and a Master’s in the History of Art from University College London. She won the Tibor Jones South Asia Prize in 2013 and the Charles Pick Fellowship at the University of East Anglia in 2014. Most notably, Doshi’s debut and only novel Burnt Sugar was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2020.
