摘要
Nawaaz Ahmed, an Indian American writer, was born on August 1, 1972, in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. His parents were Abdul Khader, a lawyer, and Niloufer Khadera, a physician. He grew up in South India in the 1970s and 1980s and attended an English-medium convent school. He earned a B. Tech in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India (1990–1994). Ahmed migrated to the USA in 1994 to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science at Cornell University. In 2000, he took a job in the Bay Area with Intomi, which was later sold to Yahoo. Dissatisfied with the I.C.T. industry’s narrow focus on monetization, Ahmed started writing a few short stories. By 2007, he decided to take up creative writing as a profession and joined writing groups comprising South Asian diasporic writers. Later, he completed an M.F.A. in creative writing (prose) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2011). Currently, he lives in Brooklyn, NY.
