Tölölyan, Khachig (1944–)
摘要
Khachig Tölölyan was born in 1944 in Aleppo, northern Syria. He was the child of descendants of Armenian refugees living in Turkey for around 300 years before settling in Syria. Tölölyan grew up in three other countries, migrating first to Egypt in 1956, then to Lebanon in 1957, and finally to the United States in 1960. He received his BA in molecular biology, MA in English, and PhD in comparative literature in the United States. Tölölyan is an active member of the Armenian diaspora community, a founder editor of Diaspora: A Journal of Transnational Studies, and an editorial board member of South Asian Diaspora. Honored as the most prominent scholar of diaspora studies, Tölölyan’s contribution to this domain includes at least two significant milestones.
