Born in Israel, Gabriel Sheffer received his education in his homeland till he completed a master’s in political science from the Hebrew University in 1965. His DPhil was from Oxford University. Around two years after his DPhil, he joined his graduate alma mater as a tenured faculty member and was promoted to full professor of political science. During his tenure, he performed various roles, including the Director of the Leonard Davis Institute for International Relations, visiting professor at numerous national and international universities, the editor of The Jerusalem Journal for International Relations, and a member of the editorial board of South Asian Diaspora. He was also awarded the Israeli Prime Minister’s Prize for the political biography Moshe Sharett: Biography of a Political Moderate (1996). His works focus on Israeli politics and foreign policy, Jewish diasporas, and the politics of diasporas.
