Born in 1974 in Chicago to a Filipina mother and Malayali Indian father, Aimee Nezhukumatathil’s poetry is nurtured by three cultures: Filipino, Indian, and American. She received her BA in English and MFA in poetry and creative nonfiction from Ohio State University in Columbus. Nezhukumatathil is the author of four poetry collections: Miracle Fruit (2003), winner of the Global Filipino Award and the Tupelo Press Prize; At the Drive-In Volcano (2007), winner of the Balcones Poetry Prize; Lucky Fish (2011), winner of the 2011 Eric Hoffer Grand Prize; and Oceanic (2018). She has also authored a collection of essays, World of Wonders (2020), a New York Times bestseller, and Barnes and Noble’s Book of the Year. Nezhukumatathil is an English and creative writing professor at the University of Mississippi and lives with her family in Oxford, Mississippi.
