Andre Bagoo was born to Margaret Bagoo and Daniel Holder in Trinidad. He is primarily a poet, but he also writes fiction and nonfiction for which he has been widely acclaimed as a witty, intelligent, humane, and inventive writer. Bagoo was born and raised in Port of Spain, Trinidad, has openly supported same-sex love and started writing poems for his boy crushes while still in his teens. He is mostly reticent about his family relationships but does refer to them indirectly in his poems. He studied law before shifting full-time to writing poetry and has in several interviews hinted at his very conventional Trinidadian childhood which prioritized academic excellence and obsessed with career building over everything else.
