Mona Arshi, a British poet, novelist, and human rights lawyer, has made a significant impact on the contemporary poetry scene with her compelling and introspective work. Born into an Indian Sikh family in Hounslow in 1970, she received her education at Lampton Comprehensive School and went on to attend Guildford College of Law, University College of London, and the London School of Economics. Before turning to writing full-time, she worked as a human rights lawyer. Arshi is best known for her debut collection of poetry, Small Hands, which received much critical appreciation and the Forward Prize for the Best First Collection in 2015. She then wrote and published another collection of poetry, Dear Big God, in 2019. Arshi’s poetry delves into the intricacies of human experience, exploring themes of identity, love, and loss, in a lyrical and evocative style. In 2021, she published her first novel, Somebody Loves You.
