Occupational safety and health issues are often discussed with an emphasis on safety, particularly in relation to injuries and workplace accidents. However, beyond that perspective, occupational health must return to its fundamental purpose: the comprehensive protection of workers. This includes safeguarding workers from a broad spectrum of hazards—physical, chemical, biological, and psychosocial—arising not only from the workplace but also from their surrounding living environments. Viewing occupational health through the One Health lens compels us to consider workers’ health in a more systematic and holistic manner. This approach highlights that One Health should not be confined to specific professions such as veterinary or agricultural work, but rather acknowledges that all occupations, regardless of their direct link to animals, are vulnerable to zoonotic exposures. The COVID-19 pandemic serves as a powerful reminder that zoonotic diseases and related hazards transcend occupational boundaries and affect all sectors of society. This chapter discusses occupational health and safety (OHS) through a One Health perspective, emphasizing the importance of embedding this framework as a cross-professional mindset. Such an approach is essential to strengthen policies, foster intersectoral collaboration, and enhance preparedness against emerging risks. The chapter concludes with recommendations for integrated surveillance, cross-sectoral cooperation, and innovative preventive strategies that reinforce resilience at the human–animal–environment interface.

摘要
