Intent-Based Cross-Chain Solution: A Comparative Performance and Usability Evaluation
摘要
The increase in number of blockchain networks has fragmented the digital landscape, with interoperability as a key barrier to scalability and adoption. Traditional cross-chain bridges offer solutions but only with challenges in security, efficiency, and user experience. This paper investigates the Intent-Based Bridge (IBB) - a shift from a protocol-driven to a user-centric model. In IBB, users specify outcomes and a decentralized solver network aims to fulfill these efficiently. A comparative analysis of IBBs and traditional bridges using simulations and real-world benchmarks of leading protocols like CoW, Across, Polygon, and Hop reveals IBB’s performance benefits. In simulations, IBBs were 7.4 times faster and 6.75% more gas-efficient; in real conditions, IBBs were 60% more cost-effective. These results support IBB as a better cross-chain interoperability solution, offering substantial improvements in speed, cost, and user experience. IBBs simplify execution and are positioned as the next generation for scalable, secure, and user-friendly decentralized applications.
