Common Comorbidities, Risk Factors, and Protective Factors in People with Psychosis
摘要
This chapter details the psychiatric comorbidities and psychosocial factors that shape the course and treatment response of psychosis. It reviews common co-occurring disorders—including depression, anxiety disorders, substance use, OCD-spectrum symptoms, and personality pathology—and explains how these conditions influence symptom severity, functioning, and relapse risk. Risk factors such as trauma history, discrimination, social undermining, and adverse life events are contrasted with protective factors including supportive relationships, coping skills, and environmental stability. The chapter highlights the importance of identifying these contextual contributors during assessment to guide treatment prioritization and optimize outcomes within a symptom-based CBT approach.
