Fundamental Study of Amphiphilic Ionic Liquids as New Surfactants and Their Applications
摘要
Amphiphilic ionic liquids (AImILs) have gained interest for functioning as both surfactants and functional materials. Their hydrophilic-lipophilic balance, structural tunability, and surface activity make them ideal for applications requiring controlled surface interactions. Among various applications, their role as corrosion inhibitors is particularly noteworthy. Their ability to form micelles and interfacial adsorption capabilities play a crucial role in corrosion control. By effectively adsorbing onto metals, AImILs create strong films that impede the electrochemical reactions responsible for corrosion. The environmentally benign nature and high efficacy of AImILs position them as promising candidates for sustainable corrosion control in industrial settings. This book chapter highlights the molecular structure, physicochemical properties, and mechanistic aspects of corrosion inhibition by amphiphilic ionic liquids, emphasizing their role in multiple sectors.
