Disaster education is essential for building disaster resilience. Countries worldwide are initiating efforts to incorporate disaster education into their school curriculum. Schools are pivotal in this initiative, having started to integrate disaster education concepts at the early childhood level. This chapter explores innovative methods of disaster education, focusing mainly on early childhood and highlighting notable practices in Japan. The discussion will center on XR Bosai, an educational event utilizing XR technology for disaster prevention, and Bousai Terakoya, a program to teach young children about disaster readiness. This chapter also discusses the strengths and weaknesses of these innovations and will draw practical recommendations to improve the teaching and learning of disaster education in early childhood education.
