Drone and Robotics in Disaster Management: An Overview

In recent years, drones and robotics have emerged as transformative tools in disaster management, offering unprecedented capabilities in search and rescue, damage assessment, and resource delivery. This paper provides an overview of the current state of drone and robotics technologies, highlighting their application across various disaster scenarios including natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and wildfires, as well as human-made crises. Using autonomous systems in both pre-disaster and post-disaster efforts enhances efficiency, safety, and real-time data acquisition, significantly improving situational awareness. This paper discusses key advancements in drone and robotics technologies, challenges related to their deployment and future directions for their development. The paper underscores the potential of these technologies to save lives and mitigate the impact of disasters, while also addressing the need for improved coordination and innovation in the field of disaster management.
