Proximal Tibial Resection and Reconstruction
摘要
Resections and reconstruction of the proximal tibia are challenging as the patella attachment and function of the extensor mechanism need to be maintained. Proximal tibial sarcoma has a unique anatomical relation with major trifurcation of vessels and the posterior tibial nerve, superior tibiofibular joint and common peroneal nerve and needs proper evaluation and surgical steps for limb salvage procedures. Understanding and advancement of biological techniques and the use of composite synthetic material for tendon attachment for patella tendon reattachment and gastrocnemius reinforcement have improved the functional outcome of the extensor mechanism.
