Modified Olier Approach for Type II and Type III Pelvic Resection and Reconstruction
摘要
Ollier was the first to describe the lateral trans-trochanteric approach to the hip joint in 1881, which was subsequently popularised by Sir John Charnley and was primarily used for revision arthroplasty, which required a good exposure of the hip joint. Internal hemipelvectomy refers to the resection of all or part of the innominate bone whilst preserving the ipsilateral lower limb. We aim to describe a modified Ollier’s approach to the hip and pelvis which enables the surgeon to perform wide and safe type II and type III resections for bone and soft-tissue tumours while providing to offering excellent exposure and allowing safe dissection of the neurovascular structures.
