Theories on Welfare and Family
摘要
Social safety net is an integral instrument to support low-income people to navigate family life under economic hardships. This chapter summarizes theoretical perspectives on social safety net and family process, especially regarding the process affecting child development. Welfare regime theory explains the roles of state and family in the public–private welfare mix. Family investment theory and family stress model explain essential dimensions of family process, as well as pathways through which social safety net can exert effects on the family process.
