Psychotherapeutic Modalities
摘要
Mental health care draws from a broad spectrum of psychological and biological interventions, each contributing to a holistic understanding of mental health and well-being. This chapter introduces nursing students to the major treatment modalities used in contemporary mental health practice, including psychopharmacology and other biological treatments, psychotherapy approaches, individual and group psychotherapy, family interventions, and psychiatric nursing interventions. These modalities are presented with attention to their theoretical foundations, clinical purposes, and relevance to nursing roles. The chapter emphasizes how nurses engage with these treatments through assessment, therapeutic communication, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and ongoing patient support across developmental stages and care settings. By linking theoretical concepts with practical nursing responsibilities, this chapter equips future nurses with a structured and comprehensive understanding of mental health interventions, supporting informed decision-making and effective care.
