Psychiatric nursing plays a vital role in mental healthcare. Mental health is still a largely overlooked issue in Bangladesh, where there is a growing demand for the workforce, highlighting the need for skilled psychiatric nurses. As a specialized field, psychiatric nursing focuses on caring for individuals facing mental health challenges. This chapter introduces the concept of psychiatric nursing and highlights its importance. It also includes ethical and legal issues, like patient rights and confidentiality, in guiding nursing practice. Central to psychiatric care is the psychiatric nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
