Technological Changes: Demystifying the Controversies of Job Loss or Job Creation
摘要
As technology advances, there is a fear of job loss, which has led to resistance to change to the adoption of new technologies. This study aims to demystify the controversies surrounding technology adoption and promote its quick implementation. The methodology used in this study involved secondary data sources such as articles and journals, along with thematic analysis. The theoretical framework employed was Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The study reveals that technological advances threaten job security for workers. It also shows that technology introduces a new digital platform, creating a new workforce model that fosters job creation. Furthermore, the findings indicate that in the technological era, jobs can be preserved through job reinvention, work design, upskilling, and reskilling. This study makes significant practical and empirical contributions to technology adoption and the management of workers’ expectations.
