The Future of Polymer Science: Artificial Intelligence and Beyond
摘要
The field of polymer science, which has historically relied on empirical methods and intuition-led design, has been slow to embrace data-driven paradigms. Even though artificial intelligence (AI) is offering powerful methodologies for data analysis, property prediction, and process optimization, its integration into polymer science is still limited due to the inherent complexity of polymer systems, technical difficulties, and a lack of cross-disciplinary expertise. This viewpoint offers polymer researchers a practical starting point by describing practical AI applications, easily accessible computational tools, and fundamental implementation difficulties. It seeks to demystify AI, lower adoption obstacles, and foster discussion at the nexus of polymer chemistry and machine learning rather than acting as a specialized treatise. Early AI engagement will boost creativity and discovery while putting polymer scientists at the forefront of next-generation materials research as the field develops.
