Bioethics Futures: Inclusive Innovation and Disability-Centered Policy
摘要
This chapter explores the future of bioethics from the viewpoint of disability, examining the influence of AI, neurotechnology, and biotechnology on the possible topics of inclusion, autonomy, and justice. It claims that the classic model of bioethics has always interpreted disability as a deficiency, hence, marginalized disabled people. This chapter introduces the paradigm of inclusive innovation that represents the intervention of using disability rights, the lived experience of people with disabilities, and social justice as a tool for inclusion, the intervention of ableist practices in the area of technology, data governance, and policy decisions through the promotion of justice for people with disabilities. The primary ethical issues related to algorithmic bias, mental privacy, neurotechnology, and the exclusion of people with disabilities from research and decision-making processes are discussed. The chapter also presents the disability-centered bioethics principles, in which participatory research, epistemic justice, and structural change are the central values. It finally provides the guidance for policy-making that helps to make the technology futures not only fair and accessible but also rights-based. This chapter urges the rethinking of bioethics as a tool for technology governance that is inclusive, just, and disability-informed.
