Techno-Economic Analysis of Hydrogen Production Pathways: Status, Challenges, and Future Outlook
摘要
This chapter examines the role of hydrogen in enabling a low-carbon energy transition through a techno-economic analysis of hydrogen production pathways and the broader supply chain, including storage, transport, and end-use distribution. It evaluates key economic, technological, and policy challenges, with emphasis on cost structures, infrastructure requirements, and environmental impacts. The analysis incorporates global and regional policy frameworks and financial instruments such as contracts for difference, power purchase agreements, and regulated asset base models to assess their effectiveness in reducing investment risk and accelerating market adoption. Cost projections indicate a significant decline in green hydrogen prices, while storage options reveal trade-offs between economic feasibility and geographical constraints. Overall, this chapter highlights the need for coordinated policy interventions, innovative financing mechanisms, and large-scale infrastructure investments to support a sustainable and economically viable hydrogen economy.
