Hydrogen Production with Low- or Zero-Carbon Emissions from Renewable and Fossil Resources
摘要
The growing global energy demand driven by urbanization and population growth, coupled with the environmental impacts of fossil fuel use, has intensified the search for sustainable energy solutions. Hydrogen, as a clean and efficient energy carrier, offers a promising pathway toward low- or zero-carbon energy systems. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of hydrogen production technologies from renewable sources including biomass, solar, wind, geothermal and algae as well as from conventional fossil-based sources such as natural gas, coal, nuclear, and thermochemical processes. It evaluates the economic feasibility of each approach and examines the environmental implications, highlighting the potential of green hydrogen to support a sustainable energy future.
