The Breakthrough of Chinese Wushu in the New Era
摘要
After 2008, alongside the nation’s transformation into a sports powerhouse and the construction of a culturally strong nation, the development of Chinese Wushu increasingly focused on highlighting its cultural attributes and systemic planning. Relevant departments successively introduced multiple development plans to strengthen the systematic nature of Wushu development. Competitive Wushu focused on cultivating young reserve talents and promoting the standardization of Sanda events. Traditional Wushu, building upon mass fitness, intensified cultural preservation, with numerous boxing styles being included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List for protection. To meet social demands, Wushu in schools showed trends toward integration, internationalization, and diversification. In terms of international dissemination, Wushu’s “going out” pace quickened, with greater emphasis on enhancing the nation’s soft power, and the methods of dissemination became more proactive and diverse.
