The All-Round Reconstruction of Chinese Wushu
摘要
From 1983 to 1990, the cause of Chinese Wushu experienced a massive revival. Following the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, Wushu embraced the spring breeze of reform and opening up. Under the leadership of the State Sports Commission, efforts were simultaneously focused on two fronts: on the one hand, excavating and preserving endangered traditional Wushu forms, and on the other, reforming and innovating to actively explore new paths for Wushu development in the new era. Competitive Wushu (Jingji Wushu), Wushu in schools, and Wushu scientific research all saw brand-new, rapid development. During the same period, international Wushu organizations were established overseas, the formation of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) was put on the agenda, and Wushu Taolu (routines) successfully entered the arena of international multisport games. China’s Wushu was continuously increasing its international influence.
