The Exploration and Innovation of Wushu Since the Establishment of Chinese Wushu Association

Under the leadership of He Long, the sports industry of New China developed rapidly. After the establishment of the Chinese Wushu Association in 1958, until the start of the “Cultural Revolution” in May 1966, Wushu made considerable progress in such a suitable development environment. Good achievements were made in competitive Wushu, school Wushu, social Wushu, academic discussions on Wushu, and international exchanges of Wushu. During this period, a great discussion on the twining force of Taijiquan was held, and efforts were made to explore Wushu competitions. School Wushu education, textbook compilation, and academic activities all achieved good development. Chinese Wushu also continuously engaged in international exchanges.
