Finite Element-Based Stress Analysis of Automotive Chassis Structures
摘要
The objectives of this study are to perform modal analysis of an automotive chassis and evaluate the stress distribution caused by static loading. The static features of the truck chassis like natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes both, are determined through numerical simulations. The finite element analysis results of model are obtained. The critical level of stress concentration at the chassis is obtained in the region of blots. Hence, the factor of safety is required to be introduced at these locations to reduce the stress below the permissible limits. Since fatigue failure typically initiates in such high-stress regions, this location can be considered the most probable site of structural failure. The chassis’s maximum deflection is consistent with the predictions for a simply supported beam under uniformly distributed loading.
