Engineering and Development of High-Entropy Alloys
摘要
High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are multi-element alloys composed of at least five principal elements, with each having an atomic concentration between 5 and 35%. HEAs have attracted great research interest due to their unique mechanical and physical properties, including high strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, and thermal stability, surpassing those of conventional alloys. This introductory chapter explores the thermodynamic considerations and phase formations in HEA synthesis, including design strategies and alloy engineering. The initial stages of HEA development are followed by structural analysis and characterization, including tests for mechanical and physical properties, examination of the current applications of HEAs, and concluding with challenges and future outlook of HEA research.
