The stability of the slope plays an important role during the designing and building of earth dams under the effect of various adverse conditions. There are numerous elements that are responsible for the stability analysis of earth dams. Some of the important parameters which affects the slope stability behaviour of earth dams are water level of the reservoir, design parameters of the dam, characteristics of the materials, type of soil, etc. In the present study, an attempt is made to determine the upstream slope stability factor for the earth dams with the help of numerical modelling software. The Geo-SLOPE/W program, which is based on limit equilibrium techniques, is used to achieve the objective of the study while accounting for the scenario of dry circumstances and a progressive rise in water level in the upstream portion of these dams. From the results obtained from numerical modelling it can be concluded that in dry conditions, the slope stability of the earth dam may have increased. Additionally, when the water level reaches its maximum, the slope stability rises.

摘要
