In view of the significant difference in reluctance between the direct-axis and quadrature-axis magnetic circuits of synchronous reluctance motors (SRM), this paper proposes a simplified modeling method of equivalent magnetic circuit (EMC) for calculating the direct-axis and quadrature-axis magnetic circuits separately. Firstly, the simplified EMC models of the direct-axis and quadrature-axis magnetic circuits for SRM are established respectively. Then, magnetic flux density of air gap and stator tooth are calculated using the simplified EMC models, and the calculation results are compared with those of FEM. Finally, magnetic flux density harmonics of air gap with FEM are analyzed. This paper provides a new idea for the simplified calculation of EMC for SRM.
