Up to this point, adjustment cords have been described implicitly—as passages through which tension must pass when alternatives narrow. This description is intentionally provisional. Without a precise definition, however, the concept risks being absorbed into existing categories such as hubs, drivers, bottlenecks, or biomarkers.
