The design of an office environment significantly influences employee productivity and psychological well-being. This study assesses the impact of artificial lighting and black industrial ceilings in low natural light conditions on female office workers’ performance and psychological states at the Philippine Survey Research Center (PSRC) office. Using a quantitative approach, data were gathered through structured surveys and rating scales to evaluate female employees’ perceptions of lighting quality, ceiling comfort, concentration, productivity, and overall satisfaction. The findings indicate that the current dark ceiling and insufficient lighting adversely affect productivity, with female employees expressing a preference for more natural light and brighter surroundings to enhance mood and comfort. Participants suggested that lighter ceiling colors and increased luminance could improve spatial perception and employee satisfaction. Additionally, results reveal a correlation between improved lighting conditions and reduced fatigue, contributing to a more positive work environment. These insights underline the importance of thoughtful lighting and design choices in industrial-style offices, particularly those with dark ceiling treatments, to optimize productivity and foster a healthy workplace. This research contributes to evidence-based recommendations for enhancing lighting strategies in modern office settings, ultimately supporting female office workers’ well-being and performance through purposeful design.
