Optimization of Visual Comfort Through Natural Lighting at a University
摘要
Inadequate lighting in educational spaces affects academic performance. Therefore, this research aims to optimize the lighting in educational classrooms through simulation. A mixed-method approach utilizing lux meters and Velux Daylighting Visualizer (VDV) software was employed in two classrooms with contrasting characteristics. The results indicated a 20% improvement in visual comfort by enhancing the classroom with a vertical garden to reduce glare and incorporating skylights to increase daylight. However, extending the study across different months, challenges were observed in addressing comfort, particularly in the classroom with low lighting levels. Future studies may propose spatial flexibility in architectural design that accounts for seasonal variations and incorporates renewable energy systems to foster more comfortable educational environments.
