Test and Control Validation of Renewable Energy to Hydrogen System Based on Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation

Hydrogen production system is regarded as a better solution to achieve local consumption of renewable energy. The electrical characteristics of renewable energy to hydrogen system should be investigated through test and validation, which is benefit for the steady operation research and control optimization. Firstly, topology and control of the system is introduced, key components in the system including wind power generation system, energy storage system, electrolytic hydrogen production system, power grid and control system. Secondly, modelling method and HIL implementation are elaborated, and it can be used for control performance assessment with high fidelity. A system with the ability of on/off-grid operation is tested and validated. This work is expected to understand the control performance and provide a test method for renewable energy to hydrogen system.
