DC overvoltage protection is a crucial component in the design of UHV multi-terminal hybrid flexible DC transmission projects, ensuring that the converter trips promptly in case of faults or abnormalities, thereby maintaining the safe and stable operation of the multi-terminal DC transmission system. ±800 kV Kunbei Converter Station serves as the initial terminal station of the Kunliulong UHV multi-terminal hybrid flexible DC transmission project. During a DC overvoltage open-circuit protection operation, an abnormality occurred. This paper presents an analysis and study of this anomaly, and proposes optimized improvement measures, which are of great significance for enhancing the safe operation and maintenance of multi-terminal DC transmission projects.
