Over more than four decades, my research has focused on elucidating the biological significance of dietary flavonoids, from their in vitro and in vivo antioxidant activity and metabolic pathways to the physiological roles of their conjugated forms. A series of experiments showed that inflammatory conditions promote β-glucuronidase–mediated deconjugation. Further research identified β₂-adrenergic receptors as potential physiological targets, demonstrating that quercetin conjugates can modulate receptor-mediated signaling and inhibit stress-induced invasion of breast cancer cells at physiological concentrations. Additional studies revealed that circadian disruption enhances cancer metastasis, whereas quercetin administration suppresses distant metastasis. Throughout this scientific trajectory, active participation in international conferences and research exchanges worldwide profoundly shaped my career, providing invaluable insights and collaborations. Experiences such as traveling alone to present and discuss research across multiple continents, overcoming unexpected difficulties, strengthened my confidence and global perspective. I hope that young researchers will cultivate a spirit of inquiry and can be the kind of person who truly enjoys doing research.

摘要
