MicroRNAs and Extracellular Vesicles
摘要
Recently, the health-promoting effects of food and its ingredients have attracted attention, and research into the mechanisms of function has been actively conducted. MicroRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) are small noncoding RNAs expressed in a wide range of organisms, including humans and mice, that have been shown to control physiological and pathological processes by regulating the expression of target genes. Moreover, miRNAs transported by extracellular vesicles (EVs) can be detected in body fluids such as blood and can be used as biomarkers. This chapter provides an overview of the relationship between polyphenols and miRNAs, as miRNAs can be considered mediators that modulate the biological effects of food factors.
