Identifying the Service Quality Factors Concerning Public Bicycle-Sharing Service in Transit Catchment Areas
摘要
Promoting shared bicycles as feeder services to public transit is integral to fostering sustainable transportation. A comprehensive understanding of factors influencing satisfaction with Public Bicycle-Sharing Service (PBSS) usage, based on transit users’ perceptions, is essential for strategically planning new PBSS initiatives and enhancing existing services. Existing studies explain that the bicycle-sharing systems’ service quality is primarily based on the availability of the service and do not consider its linkage with the bicycle route infrastructure available and its integration with transit service. This study identifies the factors affecting PBSS based on the review of existing studies and considers the factors explaining the extent of integration and seamlessness between feeder modes and the transit service. A service quality investigation was conducted using a questionnaire-based primary survey to understand the overall satisfaction with PBSS usage at the Kochi metro station catchment area. Twenty five attributes concerning PBSS are reviewed based on the Importance ratings and satisfaction ratings levels reported by transit users. Revised Importance-Performance Analysis is conducted to identify the priority sequence to allocate resources towards improving PBSS. The study findings help formulate effective policies for enhancing the service quality of PBSS and making informed decisions while planning new PBSS.
