This Chapter explores the high school teacher policy landscape in China, tracing its roots within the historical framework of the Communist Party of China’s formulation and implementation of teacher education policy. It aims to contextualize the historical context of these policies, distill valuable historical experiences, and critically assess current issues and shortcomings in high school teacher education. The goal is to provide insights for shaping the future vision of high school teacher education development and to explore the path towards a high school teacher education system in China with socialist characteristics.
