In the context of South Asia, connectivity has been the buzzword (Sinha and Sareen 2020), as it is expected that economic corridors, export processing zones, industrial townships, and cross-border trading zones get a boost when there is proper highway and railway connectivity as well as better port infrastructure. This would connect the hinterland with the ports and thereby create a unique ecosystem which can sustain economic growth and provide employment to many. As has been seen in the context of larger southern Asia, there are several projects in the offing which include the Asian highway project and Trilateral India, the Myanmar, and Thailand (IMT) highway project which are increasingly seen as those projects which can connect the larger South Asia with Southeast Asia. The IMT is in final stages with India supporting the project through financial aid.

摘要
