From India’s Mahābhārata to the Name of the Kingdom of Champa: In Indo-China
摘要
In today’s Central Việt Nam, historical documents record the existence of a kingdom which was known by different names in different periods. Referred to as Lâm Ấp, then Hoàn Vương, and later Chiêm Thành, the people of this kingdom came to be called the “people of Chiêm Thành” or the Chàm people. In contemporary Vietnamese research, the name “Champa” has come to be used instead of “Chiêm Thành”.
