The disciplinary mission of sociology requires both a Chinese stance of keeping the middle ground and keeping the right path, that is, a firm national integrity, academic stance, viewpoints and methods, and an academic consciousness of being “grounded” and “confident”. Zheng Hangsheng and his academic team have re-examined the three groups of academic relations between China and the West, the ancient and modern, the truth and reality, and correctly treated the two forms of sociology, continuously enhanced academic autonomy, balanced science and humanities, pursued “truth, goodness and beauty”, and improved “spirit”, which promoted the transformation of the sociological discourse system and became a conscious advocate of Chinese sociological theory.
